Growing up I had two older brothers, Codi and Corey. Our parents divorced when we were kids and both moved on with other people. We grew up in a small town outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with our mom and step dad. Our dad lived in Cincinnati, Ohio with our step mom, step sister, and step brother. We visited often and our dad would come to Pittsburgh some weekends, some holidays spent with one parent instead of the other; and that is how I remember my childhood.

I do not remember living with my dad. Codi, the oldest, got to witness a lot of our parents together. Corey got to see a good bit. But I was only about three years old when they split so not much remains. Just memories of my dads old apartment before he moved to Cincinnati.

In September of 2015 we lost Codi to a tragic incident. On New Year’s Eve going into 2019 we lost our mom and step dad. That is when Corey decided to move to Cincinnati and live with our dad.

That is where this series of photos comes to play. 20 years without living together, and becoming an adult, dynamics change. Our dad and step mom are now divorced, and I live on my own, so it has just been my dad and Corey living together. I go over as often as I can and this particular night I decided to document these two and it was very interesting to catch it all on camera.

Here is 20 years of catching up with John and Corey.
